They due note that specifically which their chips and tortillas, some cross contamination is possible due to the environment in which they are prepared and fried. Qdoba Mexican Grill History

Qdoba is a Mexican Grill restaurant based in Lakewood, Colorado. They are known for making fresh, ready-to-order food that includes a wide selection such as signature burritos, tacos, nachos, salads and breakfast items. Customers can also choose from a dozen fresh salsa dishes and sauces to complement their main meals.

Currently, Qdoba Mexican Grill is rated as the number two fast food Mexican chain in America, only behind Chipotle. They have around 325 restaurants with more than 315 of them being company owned, the rest are franchised. Qdoba is a subsidiary of the hamburger chain company Jack in the Box.

The restaurant is the brainchild of Anthony Miller and co-founder Robert Hauser who launched their first location in 1995. The location was located in Denver, Colorado. It became a success within the first year with sales revenue exceeding $1.5 million. They launched this inaugural franchise store at a cost of $180,000, occupying a total space of 1,300 square feet.

Since then, the restaurant has undergone several name changes to coincide with the times. It was originally known as Zuma, then later changed to Z-TECA Mexican Grill to avoid confusion with other restaurants which also went by the same name. Z-TECA was later changed to Qdoba after critics claimed that is sounded similar to Z’Tejas Southwestern Grill.

Qdoba now has a presence in multiple locations around the world. Their first Canadian destination was located in Brandon, Manitoba. The restaurant fits into a fast casual market segment that offers prompt service, and a higher quality of food compared to other typical fast food restaurants. Customers place orders by picking a specific entrée, then choosing its ingredients. All items are fresh and prepared in plain view of the customers. The chain’s operating motto is “We Live Food”. This slogan distinguishes them from some of their main competitors. Qdoba also serves breakfast dishes and some of their locations are open 24/7 during the weekends.

Summary

Qdoba has a great variety of gluten-free ingredients and as long as your ok with corn tortillas or a bowl, there is a lot of options here. We would like it if they made the effort to fry certain items separately just to avoid any cross contamination, but if you aren't allergic, this could be a great place for some gluten-free Mexican food!
