Wendy’s History

Wendy’s restaurant is the brainchild of Dave Thomas. When he was just 8 years old, the future mogul dreamed of running the best eatery in the world. He lived to not only achieve this dream but also to share it with the world. As a child, Dave appreciated two things above everything else and these were food and people. This is the reason why he came up with idea for Wendy’s. Thomas wanted a place where people could get great food made fresh and served by friendly staff as well.

In 1969, the first Wendy’s restaurant was born in Columbus, Ohio. Thomas introduced America to his signature fresh, ready-to-order, square hamburgers and they fell for it. When other fast food chains were using frozen beef to make their burgers and mass-producing meals, Dave came up with the inventive idea of preparing his hamburgers fresh. Wendy’s was soon associated with square, ground beef hamburgers that would hang nicely over the bun, and were made with the customer’s own choice of toppings. Quality and freshness are their two main passions and the company serves high quality meals to millions of customers each day.

In February of 2001, Wendy’s started an expansion plan to further diversify their restaurant lineup. With an investment of $500 million at their disposal, they intended to use it in pursuing acquisitions, mergers and joint ventures. The first move was made about a year later when Wendy’s announced it had spent $10 million to acquire a 45% stake in CafA Express, a budding company in the fast casual food industry.

Wendy’s motto is “Quality is Our Recipe” and they have managed to stick by this to this day. They offer customers the highest quality of sandwiches that are served fast and in a courteous manner. The restaurant strives to earn customers’ loyalty each day and even exceed their expectations if possible. Wendy’s is always looking for ways of improving its menu by including pre-packaged salads, toppings and dressings that customers can customize to their own liking.

Wendy's Gluten-Free Menu
  • Gluten-Free Options

Summary

We wish Wendy's offered a gluten-free bun option to enjoy their cheeseburger, but they do provide a decent amount of options for a full gluten-free meal if your needing something to go with your Frosty!
