Cheeseburger in Paradise History

Cheeseburger in Paradise is an American restaurant chain with locations in Florida, Indiana, Nebraska, New Jersey, Maryland and South Carolina. The company is owned by Luby’s Inc. and is the brainchild of Jimmy Buffet who was inspired to open the eatery after a trip to the Caribbean. While indulging on canned food and some peanut butter, he thought about partaking in a better treat, a “piping hot cheeseburger”.

Buffett and his friends ran into bad weather while trying to cross the Mona Passage between Puerto Rico and Hispaniola. They decided to use another route via the British Virgin Islands and upon reaching Road Town, Tortola were surprised to find a small restaurant serving American style cheeseburgers. This is where the idea to start his own cheeseburger restaurant began.

After releasing a hit song named “Cheeseburger in Paradise”, Buffet later registered his restaurant chain with the same name in 2002. The store was licensed under the parent company Margaritaville Holdings LLC. As of 2006, the restaurant chain had 38 locations across 17 states in America and one location in Sydney, Australia as well.

Jimmy Buffet’s cheeseburgers are served in a laid back beach environment where customers can leave the stresses of everyday living behind while also enjoying other items that are on the menu such as ice cold beverages, cocktails and much more. The cocktails can be handcrafted to suit your own personal tastes or preferences. The restaurant believes that every little detail makes a huge difference in terms of the quality of their bar & grill, hence they only use fresh chicken, seafood and USDA approved ground chuck.

They combine the freshest and best quality ingredients in their food including homemade salad dressings, seasonings and sauces. Customers are assured of attention to detail and concentration on quality of the dishes served. While their cheeseburger is the most popular food item on their menu, they also have other dishes such as Calypso Chicken Salad, Grilled Atlantic Salmon, Chocolate Nachos and Jerk Chicken Wrap, including various kids desserts.

Summary

Cheeseburger in Paradise seems to be making an effort to provide a variety of gluten-free menu items for their customers and trying to prevent cross contamination as much as possible. However, they are not a certified gluten-free kitchen and we do wish they went a step further with that. That being said, they have a good amount of gluten-free items on their menu and we love that they offer a gluten-free bun!
